I find I use this calculator everytime I'm in the workshop or Home Depot shoping for materials.
If there's a negative I'd say that the cover can be awkward to close in a hurry. Great tool otherwise!

(More customer reviews)This is the third Calculated Industries construction calculator I've owned. I've purchased them because, to my knowlege, they are the only calculator available with these functions. As a residential designer I find it incredibly usefull for day to day calculations without the tedious conversions required to use numeric calculators. The ability to convert metric equivalents is also quite handy. Finally the Trig functions make this a fully capable tool.

As for disadvantages, the number entry is a little tiresome, to enter 1'6 1/2" you must press: 1, feet, 6, inch, 1, /, 2. But the pay off is worth while to get results in appropraite units. The other limitations of the calculator are the number of digits displayed, 7 is the most you're allowed to enter andit will give you errors if your result is greater than 8 digits. Also the Calculator does round, 13/16 divided by 2 equals 7/16, butwe're only talking 1/32, but I'd rather see a decimal result in that case.

All in all the calc is super handy and has nearly allowed me to forget how to count by twelves and sixteens. It's the best solution until we all go metric.

(More customer reviews)Having tried many feet/inch/fraction calculators, I must say this is by far the easiest to use, and the case it comes in can take a beating while protecting the keypad. There's even a compartment to keep the operator's manual with the calculator and protected (which you will use on occasion for calculations that you don't do every day). I have had the predecessor to this model, the Construction Master 4 for years, use it daily, and still have never had to change the battery.

(More customer reviews)I have been using my inchmate calculator for 10 years extensivly in my job as a mechanical designer. It is a great calculator and very fast. It helps me in adding and subtracting dimensions for layout of construction documents. The one I have does not have the rise, run, and slope features but square and square root keys acheive the same results just a little slower. The only improvement that the manufacturer could enhance for this calculator is the incorporation of sine, cosine, and tangent keys for trigonometric calculations. These features would win a five plus star rating for this already great calculator.
